1. Accede to the truckers' demands 2. Pretend to do so, even just in part, but then piss around, drag things out for years, and eventually defy them in every way that matters 3. Arrest them (given the numbers involved, this would probably require drafting in the army) 4. Replace them with immigrants who will be more obedient 5. Demonise them (draft in the MSM, social media influencers, etc.) 6. Sacrifice Trudeau - cast him as an arrogant and tonedeaf leader who, even though he meant well, was insensitive to the concerns of his public 7. Have Trudeau call an election, but then rig the result so that he wins, thus discrediting the truckers 8. Have Trudeau assassinated. (1) would be an extremely humiliating blow for, not just Trudeau (who ultimately really doesn't matter at all), but also the worldview that he embodies. It's similar to how Brexit wasn't actually a huge inconvenience for anyone, but was a humiliation, a symbolic defeat. (2) is viable, but still a humiliation in the short-term and would, crucially, grant that anti-establishment protest works. They really don't want to encourage that belief, so even a pretend acquiescence would be dangerous for them. (3) would be optics suicide for any Western government. (4) is in process, but will take decades. They need a solution now. (5) is in process, but is unlikely to work IMO. The damage is already done, the MSM didn't get onboard fast enough to assert the counter-narrative and successfully characterise the truckers as racist, sexist, etc. (6) is viable, IMO. The only down side is that it risks legitimising anti-establishment protest, but they can ameliorate this by casting Trudeau, not his worldview, as the enemy of the truckers. He can go, and those in power can do what he would have done anyway. The public will be satisfied by what will look like their victory. The long-term cost of this would be granting that the public can remove, by protest, globalist lackeys. But they are just lackeys, so this doesn't really matter. (7) is the best strategy for them, assuming they can convincingly hide the election rigging. There would be no down sides to it at all, and, whereas (6) would merely be breaking even, this would actually be a net gain for them, since public protest would be discredited, and shown to be actually against what the public want - and the public proved that as soon as they got the chance to vote on the matter. (8) would obviously be a tragic loss of a great man, but I think it might be too much to hope for. So I think, in theory, it should be a choice between (6) and (7) - the choice hinging on whether they are confident about rigging an election. (7) would be ideal but they might have to settle for (6). However, given the confidence crisis that the globalists appear to be suffering just now, I wouldn't be surprised if they go for (2). That would probably entail having Trudeau come out with a heartfelt mea culpa speech, then putting an end to the COVID measures, but quietly pressing ahead with the digital ID, etc.
