The majority of people follow the majority. That's what's scary. What's worse is that most people's beliefs have not been moulded by their common sense / logic / reason, but by those around them.

Always ask yourself why it is you believe what you believe. Whether its religion / politics / entertainment etc. You'll find it's not because you had the evidence in front of you, but because you had to follow the pack.
