U(kraine)2: an expanded assessment U2—and particularly Bono—long ago mutated from a musical act into a civil society organization that lobbies on behalf of Western empire (the US, the UK, the EU, Brussels, and the financial centers known as the City of Manhattan and the City of London) primarily in the "non-Western world." Which is exactly what Bono and the Edge are doing here, with their usual melodramatic theatrics in fine form. This "surprise" performance is meant to elicit Western viewers' sympathy for a "defenseless" Ukraine (so billions of more dollars, pounds, and euros in "aid" can be wasted on the country), as well as whitewash and "Westernize" the governing regime in Kiev (a city, by the way, that is not being bombed, so why a bomb shelter in the metro station?). A regime that has shamelessly allied itself with domestic Nazi entities (e.g., Azov, Pravy Sektor, Tryzub, Aidar, Tornado, C14) whose hideous lineage traces directly back to the 1920s, when Ukrainian Nazis like Stepan Bandera and Mykola Lebed formed the OUN in East Galicia to pursue an independent and ethnically homogenous Ukraine based on the fantasy of a Kievan Rus'-era "pure" Rurik-dynasty bloodline. A regime that has unleashed the SBU to abduct, torture, murder, and disappear any and all Ukrainians whom Zelensky, Arestovich, and their Nazi bedfellows (e.g., Dmytro Yarosh) deem "not Ukrainian enough." But close your eyes, sing along, and shout "Slava Ukraini" if you want. Just keep in mind what you're really glorifying.
